We scheduled a trip for August - knowing we’d need to be away from the DC area and the August heat. Where to go? Not quite but almost last minute we decided to take the leap - pick some dates and book a flight to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Scurrying to figure it all out we booked hotels, cottages, airbnb’s and planned to rent a car. We drove the south west loop from Halifax, around to Yarmouth, up to Annapolis Royal, etc, and back down to Halifax.
Canadians vacation in Nova Scotia - a bit like big city east coasters go to Cape Cod. All the locals and vacationing Canadians we met were unbelievably nice - not fake nice, but genuinely nice, kind, thoughtful, friendly - that kind of thing. Hard to describe - !!
